REGARDING WINE - 2 DAYS

Day 01
Leaving the city on the N1 our first stop is Paarl and the impressive Afrikaans Language monument. This town was founded around 1717 and received its name from a massive rock, which when in direct sunlight transmits a pearly glance. Continue to Zevenwacht Estate where we enjoy a picnic lunch with a magnificent view of the small lake and surrounding mountain range (weather permitting), as well as a wine tasting and tour. Continue to Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa. Here we visit the beautiful Neethlingshof wine estate for a cellar tour and wine tasting. During the afternoon we undertake a walk through the historical town of Stellenbosch with its various houses built and restored in Cape Dutch Style. Dinner included at one of the restaurants in town.

Day 02
After a relaxing breakfast we depart from Stellenbosch over the Hellshoogte Pass to Franschhoek, founded by the French Huguenots. Here we visit the Huguenot Memorial and enjoy a wine tasting in one of the various wine estates surrounding Franschhoek. We continue our journey over Franschhoek Pass and the scenic fruit plantations of Elgin.

Crossing over Sir Lowrys Pass you will be astounded by the majestic view of the 29km long strand of False Bay at your feet. We continue to Somerset West to the most breathtaking wine estate, Vergelegen. Enjoy a wine tasting and stroll through the beautiful estate before joining the hosts for lunch. We depart for Rust-en-Vrede estate for a tasting and visit the nearby wool farm. Here we learn all about wool and the production thereof and we conclude the tour with coffee. Late afternoon depart for Cape Town.

HIGHLIGHTS WESTERN CAPE PROVINCE

Day 1:
After breakfast we leave the Mother City. We travel via the coastal towns of Somerset West, Gordons Bay and Kleinmond to Hermanus. This area is particularly popular during July to November when it is whaling season. The village at Hermanus is famous for its white beaches inviting you for a swim. After lunch depart via Bredasdorp, known for its wheat and wool industry, to Cape Agulhas - the most Southern point of Africa “where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet”. After a short walk on the beach and a visit to the Lighthouse, we continue to the picturesque village of Waenhuiskrans, also known as Arniston. Overnight and breakfast at the Arniston Hotel.

Day 2:
After breakfast we travel via Bredasdorp to Swellendam and along the N2 via Mossel Bay to George - the centre of the Garden Route. Here we undertake a journey on the nostalgic steamtrain, the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe. Enjoy this splendid journey of approximately three hours on the beautiful route from George to Knysna. Knysna is the centre of the wood production industry and famous for its Stink-and Yellow-wood plantations. We visit the impressive rock formations, the Knysna Heads, where the lagoon mouths into the ocean. On our way to the Leisure Isle Lodge we enjoy a short tour of Knysna. Dinner will be in one of the many restaurants. Overnight and breakfast at Leisure Isle Lodge.

Day 3:
After breakfast the ferry takes us across to the Featherbed Nature Reserve, one of the most famous nature attractions along the Garden Route. We visit the scenic Western Head with 4x4 Landrover, before we undertake a 2,2 km guided hike along the Bushbuck Trail offering spectacular nature views. Enjoy a refreshing lunch at the Featherbed Nature Reserve.

On our return to Knysna we visit the small coastal town of Plettenberg Bay, today one of the most popular, famous and exclusive recreation resorts. Return to Leisure Isle Lodge for overnight and breakfast.

Day 4:
Breakfast. Enjoy the full day at leisure in the beautiful surroundings of Knysna. Rely on your guide for hints about places to go and people to see. Overnight and breakfast at the Leisure Isle Lodge.

GARDEN ROUTE AND LITTLE KAROO

Day 1:
We depart from Cape Town via the Boland, over the Du Toits Kloof Pass and through the Winelands to Worcester, the gateway to the Little Karoo. Enjoy a possible lunch in Montagu and, if time allow, enjoy the natural spring water swimming pools. We continue our drive over several passes, with magnificent views of rock formations and ostrich farms. Finally we reach the capital of the Feather barons, Oudtshoorn. After a short tour of the town we visit the Cheetah and Crocodile Ranch. Arrival at the Oudtshoorn Hotel and after check-in, and enjoy dinner at a nearby Restaurant. Overnight and breakfast at the hotel.

Day 2:
After breakfast we depart to the famous Cango Caves, known for its magnificent dripstone formations. Highgate Ostrich farm for a demonstration-visit of the largest bird in the world and enjoy a typical ostrich lunch. Afterwards we continue via the Robinson Pass to Mossel Bay, where we visit the Bartholomae Diaz Museum and the Old Post Office Tree. We drive further along the Garden Route to the small seaside town, Wilderness. Here we have the opportunity to walk along the beach and swim in the Indian Ocean. We finally drive to Knysna where we overnight. We explore the town and visit the Knysna Heads at the Lagoon. In the early evening we join a cruise across the Knysna Lagoon. Overnight and breakfast at the Knysna Hollow Country Estate.

Day 3:
We depart from Knysna to Plettenberg Bay and enjoy a short sightseeing trip in this popular holiday resort. We continue on the Panorama Route through the former Yellow-wood forest to the Tsitsikamma National Park. Here we undertake a short hike to the hanging foot bridge across Storms River Mouth. Afterwards we drive directly to Port Elizabeth, the third largest harbour city in South Africa, where our tour ends.

GARDEN ROUTE AND SAFARI


Day 01:
We depart Cape Town and head in direction of the Cape Winelands to Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa, known for producing top wines. We explore the city center and visit the Dorpsmuseum, the depicting the different eras of the former colony. Enjoy your first wine tasting and cellar tour before leaving via Somerset to the False Bay area. Check-in at Villa Via Hotel, located at the Waterfront in Gordons Bay with breathtaking sea views.

Day 02:
Breakfast and depart via the scenic coastal road towards Hermanus. In the months between May and September, Whales can be seen frolicking along the shores. Before heading inland we partake in another wine tasting in this region. Continue your journey back to the N2 passing Caledon toward the outskirts of the sleepy town of Swellendam. Tonight we will be staying at an exclusive country style guest house on an historic farm which was established in 1723 in the beautiful Klein Karoo. A traditional and home cooked dinner is included and served by the owners.

Day 03:
After visiting the Drostdy Museum in the heart of Swellendam we will be driving straight to Mossel Bay. We explore Mossel Bay and the Old Post Office Tree before we arrive at Botlierskop, a malaria free private game reserve, blessed with a great diversity of habitat and wildlife. Partake on a 2 hour guided nature walk riverine forest, marsh areas, fynbos and plains. Dinner will be served in the main restaurant. Accommodation in luxury tented suites on wooden decks offer a stunning view of the river and the tranquil mountains.

Day 04:
Early morning open vehicle game drive and with a bit of luck you will be able to see the Big Five. Depart after breakfast along the well known Garden Route via Wilderness to Knysna. In Knysna we will conduct a short city tour and view the Knysna Lagoon with its famous Heads. Only short drive and we reach the exclusive town of Plettenberg Bay, where we will stay overnight.

Day 05:
Today we will visit the Tsitsikamma National Park, which incorporates a rocky coastline with spectacular sea and landscapes. We undertake a short relaxing walk to the hanging foot bridge, which leads over the Storms River mouth. Back into the vehicle we continue along the panoramic route to Cape St. Francis.

Day 06:
Leaving St. Francis Bay, passing the friendly city of Port Elizabeth we arrive at the Addo Elephant National Park, which was proclaimed in 1931. We undertake a short game drive in our vehicle before leaving to Grahamstown. A hauntingly beautiful region – arguably the crucible of South African history – Frontier Country is a vibrant mix of all the best that Africa has to offer.

Day 07:
In the morning we will visit the Observatory Museum where we will find the only Camera Obscura in the Southern Hemisphere. After exploring the town we will depart for Kariega Private Game Reserve, only half hours drive away. Check-in to be followed by a scrumptious lunch at the main lodge.
In the late afternoon there will be an open vehicle game drive or alternatively a river cruise to be followed by a dinner.

City Tour and Table Mountain



The Mother City tour will show you the Castle of Good Hope, Heerengracht- and Adderley Streets, known for a variety of monuments, such as the Groote Kerk and Cultural History Museum. Once on top of Table Mountain (weather permitting) the most well known landmark of Cape Town, we visit the South African Museum. We continue with a stroll through the former Vegetable Gardens of the Dutch East Indian Company. View the Malay Quarters, after driving through the scenic Tamboerskloof and Greenmarket Square, ending at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront with abundance of shops, restaurants and entertainment areas.

The excursion up Table Mountain is not included in the rate. If the weather permits, please pay for the ticket to your tour guide. This tour can end either at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront or at your hotel, as you prefer.

Cape Malay Heritage


Assalaamu alaykum – a Bo-Kaap greeting - traditionally known as the Cape Malay Quarters.
An array of original colourful Cape Dutch and British style houses nestled on the slopes of Signal Hill. The first inhabitants settled over 300 years ago and the only land of South Africa that survived the apartheid era.

We start at the Bo-Kaap Museum, which was restored to its original scale and depicting the history and origin of Malay people, showcasing early household utensils and traditional clothes.
Further highlights include the first Mosque built in South Africa and the first house erected in the area. Walk along narrow cobbled streets and interact with local people. Panoramic view from a traditional burial ground which house two shrines of saints buried in the area.

End the day enjoying traditional Malay cake and tea in a private home.

Cape Point Tour

Leaving the city we travel past the coastal suburbs of Sea Point, Clifton and Camps Bay to Hout Bay. Short stop at Hout Bay harbor and continue via scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive with its spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean. Enter the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and drive to the top.

After lunch at one of the restaurants en route, we drive along the Indian Ocean to Simon’s Town and stop at Boulders Beach Penguin colony. Continue via Fish Hoek and Muizenberg to the oldest wine-estate in South Africa, Groot Constantia. Here we visit the former Manor House, built in true Cape Dutch style. Last stop Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, surrounded by a kingdom of Proteas, South Africa’s national flower (when in season).

Winelands Paarl-Stellenbosch & Franschhoek

We join a cellar tour and enjoy an introduction to different South African wines. We continue to the small town of Franschhoek, first founded by the French Huguenots. We visit the Huguenot Memorial in its beautiful Protea surroundings.

After lunch we continue over Hellshoogte Pass to Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa, founded in 1679. Visit the Dorpsmuseum, with its 4 dwellings depicting the different eras of the Cape. Oom Samie se Winkel, a Victorian shop, is a worthwhile stop. Enjoy another wine tasting before returning to Cape Town.

Hermanus sea-side village

Leaving the city we travel along the N2 passing Somerset West and over Sir Lowry’s Pass. A spectacular view awaits us of the Cape Peninsula and False Bay areas. After a short drive we reach Grabouw, the centre of the fruit industry and forestry. Crossing over the Houwhoek Pass you will notice the dramatic change in landscape as we enter the wheat basket of South Africa.

On entry to Hermanus we visit the old harbour and its quaint museum, depicting the history of this sea-side village. Hermanus is particularly popular during whale season from July to November. Enjoy a delicious lunch before returning along the coastal route, passing towns such as Kleinmond, Bettys Bay and Gordons Bay. End the day with a cup of coffee/tea before returning to the hotel.

Cape Town & Ostriches


First stop is Table Mountain, weather permitting, take this exiting trip to the top of the mountain. A panoramic view of the Cape Peninsula awaits you. Continue with a city tour and thereafter leave the city and after a short drive arrive at West coast Ostrich Farm. Enjoy a typical lunch and guided tour to the ostriches, the largest bird in the world.

Continue to Blouberg strand. Enjoy a walk on the beach from where you will have a splendid view of the city and Table Mountain. Last stop of the day is the Waterfront where we walk through the business section, the restaurants and the wharf. Enjoy a drink in one of the pubs.

Cape Town, Ocean of Lights

We travel through the center of Cape Town and up Signal Hill for a sundowner, a cool glass of sparkling wine in the midst of a breathtaking sunset. Continue to Bloubergstrand to enjoy the wonderful view of Cape Town in the lit backdrop of Table Mountain. Here we will enjoy dinner in one of the restaurants after which we return to Signal Hill for a last look at the wonder. The lights of Cape Town reflect in the ocean and under the wide starry skies with the Southern Cross watching over us we return to the hotel.

Day 01: Your tour starts in Johannesburg, collect rental vehicle and cross the border into the Kingdom of Swaziland.

Day 01: Arrive in Port Elizabeth and collect rental vehicle. The city is situated along the 16km Algoa Bay coastline and known as the heartbeat of the Eastern Cape.

Day 02: Drive along the famous Garden Route, stopping at Tsitsikamma National Park, Plettenberg Bay and continue to the pretty town of Knysna and its beautiful lagoon.

Day 03: Spend the day in and around Knysna or have a day excursion to Oudtshoorn, capital of South Africa’s Ostrich farming.

Day 05: Explore the historic town of Stellenbosch and continue to Cape Town. In the afternoon visit the city’s numerous world-renowned attractions like Table Mountain.
Bed/breakfast: Villa Lutzi Guest House.
Day 06: Day at leisure to discover more of Cape Towns beautiful surroundings, like the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens or the vibrant V & A Waterfront.
Bed/breakfast: Villa Lutzi Guest House.
Day 07: Breakfast at Guest House. Drive to airport, return vehicle before departure.
